[edit] What Sciencism is
Sciencism is a religion based on science, through revelations from God (Science).
It fulfills all the criteria of a religion, as laid out in Wikipedia: A religion is an organized approach to human spirituality which usually encompasses a set of narratives, symbols, beliefs and practices, often with a supernatural or transcendent quality, that give meaning to the practitioner's experiences of life through reference to a higher power, God or gods, or ultimate truth. It may be expressed through prayer, ritual, meditation, music and art, among other things. It may focus on specific supernatural, metaphysical, and moral claims about reality (the cosmos and human nature) which may yield a set of religious laws, ethics, and a particular lifestyle. Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and religious experience.
- To educate and inform, to acknowledge and recognize that Science is God.
- To bring humanity closer to God, the scientific method, and scientific knowledge.
- To provide a scientific alternative to other religions
- To educate and enable people to live a scientific way of life
- To enable qualified and intelligent people to lead and guide humanity
- To tie history closely to science
- To build local communities of Sciencists where they can be with like-minded people
- To provide answers to peoples' questions, commensurate with their level of knowledge and ability to understand
- To record and publicize "scientific miracles" for the glory of God.
- Through dynamic change driven by revelations from God, to always be a better alternative to other religions
[edit] What Sciencism is not
- Sciencism is not atheism
- Sciencism is not the same as science, it is based on science
[edit] How Sciencism is different
- Sciencism is based on science, a claim that no other religion can make
- Sciencism is inclusive. Anyone can join regardless of race, colour, language, etc
- Sciencism does not make claims about reality which are grossly in conflict with science
- Sciencism's place in society
[edit] What does the Church of Sciencism do?
- Assess new scientific discoveries and publish them at various levels of sciencists
- To provide a sense of community and fellowship for sciencists
- To advertise and make known the good news of Sciencism so that non-sciencists will be encouraged to join
- To oppose destructive elements and to educate people about these destructive elements in society
- To not obstruct or oppose the progress of science and technology, unless they are being misused by causing harm to others.
