In the beginning, there was life and death. Life and death were in balance, and it was good.

But the instinct for self-preservation and the fear of death that was a necessary part of evolution, now became an all-encompassing fear. People hated and feared death. Seeing others die, they assumed that death was something to be feared and avoided at all costs. Thus they hated for themselves to die. Then, by projection, they assumed that others didn't want to die either. They first were concerned mainly with keeping death from their loved ones. Then they focused all their energies into keeping death away from everyone, whether it was in the dying's best interests or not.

Thus the world slowly started to slip away from balance and equilibrium. There was too much life, and not enough death to keep it in check. Evolution stalled. But such a state cannot last forever. Death would finally come to take his due, with interest. 0
