What is Sciencism? Who are Sciencists?
In a nutshell, Sciencism is a system of religious belief based on Science. Sciencists (practitioners of the religion Sciencism) worship Science. Science is the "God" of Sciencism.
How many Sciencists are there?
(no statistics yet)
Is Sciencism a new religion?
Yes, Sciencism is a new religion. But Science has been around since the beginning of the world. Sciencism is simply the acknowledgement that Science is God. It's taken 14.5 billion years for someone to finally see the truth.
Is Sciencism a cult?
Depends on what is meant by "cult". Are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, etc. cults?
No, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, etc. aren't cults.
Well then Sciencism isn't a cult either. The word "cult" is primarily used to disparage others. It's completely pointless and unnecessary.
What is Sciencism based on? Is it based on existing religions?
Sciencism is based on Science. It is not descended from any of the existing religions. It is only (partly) based on the STUDY OF religions, which is essentially Science.
In every religion there is some sort of "evil" force to be struggled with. Does Sciencism have such a concept in its doctrine?
Yes, the concept of "evil" is very much present in Sciencism. However the nature of this "evil" is somewhat different to the "evil" in other religions. The Universe represents "evil", or more accurately, "chaos". The Universe is hostile to humanity and is able to easily overcome and destroy humanity. Science represents "harmony" and all things good. Science can protect us from the chaos of the Universe that seeks to destroy us.
Here are some entities that Sciencism considers evil.
Is Sciencism related to Scientology?
No. Sciencism is in no way related to Scientology. Contrary to the etymology of the name, Scientology has no connection at all with Science. Sciencism on the other hand is completely based on Science.
How can Sciencism be based on science and yet still be a religion? Isn't science atheistic?
Sciencism IS Science. From all the different fields of scientific study, Science gives us guidelines on how to be better people, enlightenment and answers to questions about our surroundings, insights on our relationship to our fellow living things, etc.
Religion is illogical!
There are things that the Universe and Science allow, and there are things that the Universe and Science absolutely forbid. Nothing else. Examples of the former include christianity, islam, stupidity, genius, intelligence, etc. Examples of the latter include perpetual motion machines, impossible objects, etc.
Does Sciencism have a "Holy Book"?
Yes. The holy book of Sciencism is the "Scible". Note that it is a work in progress. One very important and interesting feature of Sciencism is its dynamic nature. It is not fixed in time and place like the other religions are. It is the ONLY religion in the world that changes with time to incorporate the lessons that Science teaches us every single day.
Are Sciencism leaders considered to be infallible?
No. Nothing and no-one is infallible, except Science and the Universe. Not even Nesa Simon David is infallible. Everyone makes mistakes, and that is exactly how Science teaches us important lessons. The best lessons you learned were the result of making mistakes.
Does Sciencism have prophets?
Yes. All the great philosophers and scientists and thinkers through history are the prophets of Sciencism. Science chooses certain people and enlightens them (whether they are willing or no) with great knowledge. Some examples of prophets of Sciencism are: Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, Ibn Battuta, etc. Others who have facilitated the spread of scientific knowledge or education are Saints.
